The Long Good Friday (1980)

The Long Good FridayHarold hard as a rock and he will destroy you. He is the London docks and he will bring the greatest real estate in Europe. He took money from the American mafia and criminal organizations connivance in London. He was short, barrel-chest, with his thinning hair combed forward over a round face and teeth that seem to always be worse.

He could not believe that in a weekend all over the world that can come apart. Harold Shand is a veil, but she lives in a penthouse, a world-class boat cruise on the Thames anchor, has a love of a lady smart and wise (Helen Mirren), and talk obsessively about ten years he helped negotiate peace in the London underground. Then a bomb blows up his Rolls Royce, killing the driver. Another bomb destroyed a landmark that has been renovated pub has.

A third bomb was found inside Harold Mayfair casino, but failed to explode. Who is behind it? Who are his enemies? And why he chose the worst enemy of all time as possible to come after him - Easter weekend when American mafioso in town to consider investing in real estate projects of his millions? "The Long Good Friday," which is a very difficult part of experts and film-making, ultimately does not answer this question. But the point of this movie is not to analyze the problem of Harold Shand. This is to present a portrait of this person.

New Zodiac Ophiuchus - The 13th of Zodiac

The 13th SignOphiuchus (pronounced off-ee-YOO-cuss) represents a man with a snake coiled around his waist. He holds the head of the snake in his left hand and its tail in his right hand. The snake is represented by the constellation serpent

The Greeks identified him as Asclepius, the god of medicine. Asclepius was the son of Apollo and Coronis (although some say that his mother was Arsinoƫ). The story goes that Coronis two-timed Apollo by sleeping with a mortal, Ischys, while she was pregnant by Apollo. A crow brought Apollo the unwelcome news, but instead of the expected reward the crow, which until then had been snow-white, was cursed by Apollo and turned black.

In a rage of jealousy, Apollo shot Coronis with an arrow. Rather than see his child perish with her, Apollo snatched the unborn baby from its mother’s womb as the flames of the funeral pyre engulfed her, and took the infant to Chiron, the wise centaur (represented in the sky by the constellation Centaurus).

Chiron raised Asclepius as his own son, teaching him the arts of healing and hunting. Asclepius became so skilled in medicine that not only could he save lives, he could also raise the dead.

Tron: Legacy (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

Tron: Legacy (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo)Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner (Blu-ray)

The film opens with a flashback to 1989 as Kevin Flynn - now the CEO of ENCOM - tells his son Sam a story about his adventures in the Grid and about how he, Tron and Clu discovered something amazing and miraculous. Sam asks about it but is told to wait for next time as Kevin leaves for work. It then cuts to a montage of events and news reports about Kevin's disappearance, which has not only jeopardized ENCOM's future, but orphaned Sam.

In the present day, the now-adult Sam breaks into the ENCOM Tower and , despite the efforts of the board - including the son of Ed Dillinger (uncredited Cillian Murphy) steals Encom's new software, releasing it online. After being chased to the top of the tower by a security guard, Sam reveals himself and attempts to freefall off the tower only for his parachute to snag on a traffic light, and he is arrested shortly after freeing himself. Sam eventually makes bail and returns to his apartment and is met by Alan Bradley, who tells him about a page he received from his Dad's office in the arcade.

Ruby on Rails Tutorial 3 : Learn Rails by Example

Ruby on Rails 3 Tutorial: Learn Rails by Example (Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series)"Ruby on Rails Tutorial 3" is an excellent introduction to create the websites with Ruby on Rails (RoR) framework. It targets a new developer for Ruby and Rails, and even those new to web development in general. Sounds like, inviting the reader into a friendly conversation, while the excess entries extended the basic concept for people who just need to know every detail.

After several chapters of the setup, this book focuses on building a single application, with each chapter to enhance it with another. I've always been a fan of this style. This makes examples look much more "real world" and allow the patient reader, who actually follow through from beginning to end, learn more than just rails. The author clearly expert Ruby language and Rails framework, but more than that, is a software engineer who has worked to introduce best practices throughout the text.

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilog [Extended Edition + Digital Copy]

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]J.R.R. Tolkien's Ring trilogy of fairy tale, originally published in the 1950s, set a new standard for fantasy fiction - and the Oscar-winning live-action adaptation does the same for films of the genre of sword-and-magic.

Perhaps the film's most eagerly awaited fantasy of all time and nearly five years in the making, The Fellowship of the Ring captures the spirit of Tolkien's Middle-earth saga far more faithfully than millions of fans dared hope. (Ralph Bakshi offered an animated adaptation in 1978, but less rousing response.)

The story begins as elderly hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) releases the ownership of a memento of the most valuable, a gold ring that has a magical power, to his young heir, Frodo (Elijah Wood). Charged with casting the ring into the fire of a forged, the young hobbits began an arduous journey in Middle-earth, accompanied by a sturdy band that includes his best friend, Sam Gamgee (Sean Astin), changing the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), haunted warrior Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), and toned dwarf Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), among others.

Opposed by the traitor wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee) and the messenger of Satan the Dark Lord, Sauron, is constantly attacked Fellowship makes its way slowly toward the cruel land of Mordor.

Stories: All New Tales [book review]

Stories: All-New Tales[Gemma Reilly] A new anthology collated by Neil Gaiman and Al Sarrantonio, and finds a collection that seamlessly fuses multiple genres .

Only Neil Gaiman and Al Sarrantonio could have pitched the idea for Stories to their publishers and not been met with blank looks, awkward fidgeting and a polite but firm ‘no thanks’. Stories is a marketing department’s nightmare: no obvious genre, no clear indication of which shelf it ought to sit on in Waterstone’s, too literary to be called ‘fantasy’, too fantastical to be called ‘literary’.

And that’s the whole point.

With this anthology of all-new short fiction, Gaiman and Sarrantonio set out to show us that genre classifications are irrelevant and often restrictive - if a tale is gripping enough, the reader won’t care. As it turns out, they’re absolutely right.

Summary book; "Tutorials in Introductory Physics" is based on extensive teaching experience and more than twenty years of research in which the Physics Education Group has sought to identify and address common difficulties that students encounter in studying physics.

Development of the tutorials was motivated by the conviction that in order to develop a functional understanding of the material students need more assistance than they can obtain through listening to lectures, reading the textbook, and solving standard quantitative problems.

"Tutorials in Introductory Physics" is intended to supplement these traditional forms of instruction by providing a structure that promotes the active mental engagement of students in the process of learning physics. The materials are equally appropriate for algebra-based and calculus-based courses.

Working together in small collaborative groups, students help one another go through the steps in reasoning necessary for the construction and application of important concepts and principles. The tutorials have been rigorously class-tested at the University of Washington, at other research universities, and at two-year and four-year colleges
